When I Heard Your Name

The day you introduced yourself

Your name echoed for hours

Around my space

Like the Big Bang

Suddenly

Everything changed

First

It took my breath away

I look at the gravestones

Of all my past fails

My head spins

I feel

The molecules

The cells

I look up to God

Weeping

What’s next?

Days pass

Yet I’m still in a haze

Each sound

Each smell

Reminds me of your name

I drown deeper and deeper

In my neuro despair

The kid

The girlfriend

The student

The wife

The ‘a little bit different one’

How could I ever advance in this game

When my life instructions

Are in Braille?

And you arrived one day

At my coffee break

Handing me a map I’ve never had.
